How long time - how many years - do you think the various LX's around can
be kept floating, i.e. in functional condition and not as gems in
collectors showcases? Pentax Scandinavia already sends all LX's for repair
och CLA's to the Netherlands, where spare parts for large parts of Europe
(old and new?) are pooled. They say some spares are definitely getting rare.

They don't send it to the Netherlands due to the lack of parts, but because Netherland
have fixed prices on certain jobs that are much cheaper than getting the same job done
in Sweden or Norway. CLA is still done in Norway but rebuilding and installing new
shutters are done in the Netherlands as it is far cheaper for the customers.
I expect Pentax Scandinavia to repair LX bodies basically forever. They still repair
50's models Pentaxes and last time I was visiting the service center that had a whole
wall, from floor to roof, with boxes containing parts for Pentax screw mount gear. In
addition, they had shelves of camera used for scavenging parts. Not long ago I
received a price list with service and CLA price for all Pentax SLR's ever made. I
woun't worry about it a bit.
