Collin,

It will cost a SMALL FRACTION of the price of either of
these cameras, and is therefore in no way comparable.

However, it will compete strongly with the "consumer-grade"
DSLRs from Canon, Nikon and Sigma, despite being priced
lower than all but the Sigma. And who would want a Sigma?

Then what, exactly, are you complaining about?

I have no doubt they will.

One thing is not in doubt, and that is Canon and Nikon have
not yet made a single penny profit from being at the leading
edge of DSLR development. I confidently predict that
Pentax *will* make a profit from the *ist D.

Of that, there is no doubt whatsoever. I sometimes wonder
if this is the "Pentax-Discuss Moaning List".

Personally, I am absolutely delighted with the announcement
of the *ist D, and will be even more delighted when mine
arrives and I can use my collection of manual focus Pentax
and Carl Zeiss glass on it.

I might even buy an AF lens or two ...

I feel sorry for those who see the announcement of the *ist
D
as an excuse to moan and complain. You must lead empty
lives.

Regards,

John
