Hi Boz, while I can generally vouch for the build and image
  qualities of the EF and especially L lenses, here's my 3 big gripes
  with the EF system:
  - everything from lenses to bodies is almost twice as big and heavy
    than equivalent Pentax (entry level aside);
  - EF zooms and even L lenses flare like hell (truly I can't
    understand how a company technologically committed can effectively
    disdain quality MC);
  - no spot meter on mid level bodies (to me spot is crucial, and much
    as I like the EOS-30, the lack of true spot cut my appeal for it)

  Should there have been something like MZ-5N and SMC out there, then
  it wouldn't be much of a question which way to go...
