Hi Boz,

Can you enlight me on this claim, because I have repaired several Canon EOS
lenses, and found that
the aperture motor is a stepper motor.
Stepper motors are not very fast motors, so I doubt that they are faster
than a spring loaded aperture mechanism.

Also the electronic motor takes room, and I admit that Canon lenses have
lots of free space in their much too bulky barrels.
This bulky barrel is probably the reason that these plastic lenses feel
mechanical unexpected solid.

And aperture mechanisms cannot be placed anywhere in the lens, because it is
dictated by the optical design.
There are very few lenses (except the older very long lenses) where
apertures are placed at the optical wrong position.
