Hi all
Some photogrphers seem to think cropping is a sin (and full frame printing
is a virtue or an artform). Even printing a small part of the unexposed
negative. I don't.
I think cameras are tools for making pictures. Not the only tool, just one
of them.
I think croping is a very important disciplin in making good pictures
(editors and web-designers will do it anyway).
It's part of game. Or the art, if you like. Mounting at telephoto lens (or a
zoom for that matter) on your camera is in fact a part of the croping
procedure, or like "cropping in advance". Choosing the focal lengt, the
distance to the subject, the subject (needless to mention), the film, method
of metering/ASA setting, shutter speed, aperture, lighting, camera movement,
printing paper, contras filter, developer etc. etc. etc. It's all part of
the art of making pictures. When we discuss pictures in our local photo
club, cropping is always an issue. So are other photographic disciplines.
Best Regards
Jens
