Tonghang, The camera works like other p&s. You press the shutter release button halfway and the camera focuses (when not using manual focus of course). You then press the rest of the way and the picture is taken. There is no movement of lenses since you have focussed at the halfway point with the button. It seems to take a little while, but this is due to the saving of the image to memory. I just tried it with manual focussing. The shutter lag is very minimal. Not quite SLR standards, but one would not expect that. Therefore the lag time normally experienced is the time for the camera to autofocus. Looking around this office the time to lock focus is less than two seconds. I just compared the autofocus of the Optio S with a Nikon CoolPix 995, again office interior with flourescent lighting a good contrasty subject. The Optio S was consistently faster. Another comparison is in the time from powering the camera to when it is ready to shoot. This time is very annoying with the CoolPix 995. I think it is longer than with the CoolPix 950, but since mine is not operational anymore I cannot compare. Anyway, the 995 took about 3-4 seconds longer to be useable than the Optio S. A major benefit in my eyes. Just a few more notes, Cesar Panama City, Florida
