You might want to consider buying a small power inverter.  It'll take a 
DC wave and turn it into a square wave (IIRC).  You can get them in many 
sizes/shapes, and they basically just plug into the socket in your car, 
and then have a wall jack style plug on the other end into which you can 
plug whatever you want.

I've realized that an AC adaptor/charger that worked this way would be
most useful.  


You can get them for cellphones, so why not cameras?
