I suspected as much. Canon makes such a big deal about the fact that
they manufacture the CMOS sensors for their other DSLR's but they've
kept quite about their one camera that uses a CCD.

I don't think that who makes it is a big deal at all. The fact that they
don't make it themselves is kind of interesting but hardly surprising.

It's an arms race. I expect CCD and CMOS to go back and forth in the
cost/performance race for a while yet :-)
