Hi Vit,
I just purchased a new Vivitar 2800 as a birthday present for my father last
year. Nice powerful flash with bounce head for a very reasonable price. As
I recall, one of those automatic-mode colors corresponds to one particular
f-stop (and one particular camera-to-subject distance range), and the other
color corresponds to a different f-stop (and a different distance range).
Of course, the values of these two particular f-stops will depend on the
setting of the film speed on the flash unit, but I believe the appropriate
value will show up in a window on the scale on the back of the unit once you
set the film speed. Just set your film speed, then set the mode to one of
the two colors, then set the aperture of your lens to the f-stop displayed
on the flash unit scale.
Hope this helps.
