Quality costs. The MZ-S is probably the most durable camera you can buy under $1500. Features, especially electronic features, cost almost nothing. Though it is my experience that 90% of the people can not tell the difference. The other 10% will appreciate the MZ-S very much.
Quality does cost money, I agree. But in this case, the MZ-S is selling at under CA$800 in Japan while here costs CA$1600 + tax. The shpping and make up cost 1/2 of the selling price here. :-(
