Alan, I'm afraid your last remark betrays exactly how much you know about
the MZ-S.

I have never said I know the MZ-S. I simply raise some questions.

I won't even bother to comment upon your second-hand and negative
points,

Why not? Is that question not fair?

By all means carry on comparing spec sheets and complaining about every
Pentax item that's ever passed through your hands, or that they make now,
but why not leave the list if nothing you get suits you?

I wasn't the one who compared specs. Perhaps you have mistaken someone else? I am still using my MX along with the Z-1p. I am hardly a spec hungry person. I have spent money on quality lenses more than cameras, even though the most recent purchases have let me down. In fact, my position is pretty neutral regarding the MZ-S. I have doubt on its built quality which has been praised here. I asked a fair and honest question, but nobody dared to answer because nobody knew. What did I asked? Who actually seen or stripped down the MZ-S and see how much metal it had inside. Isn't that question fair enough? All Pentax shown is metals shells in their brochure, but nothing regarding the inner structure. Moreover, just because I didn't praise the MZ-S (mind you I didn't badmouth it either), doesn't mean Pentax have nothing for me. I don't know why you take the whole MZ-S discussion so personal.

Let me reiterate - my experience with the MZ-S has been nothing but
positive, as it has been with every other Pentax camera and lens I have ever
owned. The company makes good quality equipment at a fair price, targeted
quite accurately at the market it understands and wants to service, and if
that is not you're bag, too bad. if you just must have IS/VR or USM or 45
eye-controlled focussing points or any other 'feature' that pentax don't
provide, go buy the stuff that does have it. It won't make you a better
photographer, only your eye and talent will do that.

There are cons in every system, so to Pentax. Just because I pointed out the flaws of Pentax and the strength of Canon, doesn't mean I hate Pentax. I resist to go blind and turn Pentax a religion in my life.

Rant over, I feel better now...

That's good. :-)

regards,
Alan Chan
