if you use an AF camera's autofocus and the camera's built-in metering all the time, the useful life of the body is about 3-5 years. that is how long it takes roughly for a superior AF and metering system to be available at the same or lower cost of the body you have now. these features will be better enough to make a difference in getting that shot faster than you were able to before.
