I suspect so too.
I once heard a story from a guy involved in the local newpaper pj trade.
He was telling me all the local papers used Nikon, because Nikon would
come in and service their gear for free.
A few years later, all the local pj's were shooting Canon. The guy asked
the people responsible if it was because Canon offered superior
products. They hadn't paid any attention to the products, it was just
that Nikon stoppped doing the free maintenance, and Canon offered the
same service.
