Some years ago I saw a newspaper comic strip, I vaguely recall that it was call "Stanley" and was, funnily enough, about a caveman. Stanley was severely roughed up by a large bear and, summoning his remaining strength, crawled over to a stone tablet on which he chiselled, newspaper banner style, "MAN DEFEATS BEAR". And then he said, "They might win the fights, but we get to write the history".
