Hey Pat,

I think that the price is bang on - the prices of those other bodies (10D
and D100) are the same here in Toronto.

If the Pentax is coming in at $2899 CDN vs the Canon 10D at $2499 CDN, I
would think that people outside of the Pentax camp would be hard pressed to
"switch" or try the *IST-D.

You're basically looking at a 1st generation digital SLR that's supposed to
be priced competitively yet is about $400 CDN (not including taxes) above
the 3rd generation competitor. With that extra $400, you could outfit
yourself with a nice flash or perhaps a nice honking sized Compact Flash
card.

Cheers,
Dave

Subject: *ist-D Canadian price

At a local shop, Kerrisdale Camera in Victoria, I was told that the *ist-D
would be available "soon". This shop lists the 10D for $2499 and the D100
for $2699, bodies only. The *ist-D will be $2899, body and FAJ 18-35 lens.
All prices in Canadian dollars. Their prices on the C and N cameras seem a
little high, so the Pentax may be less at other retailers. Including the
lens at that price seems like a good idea.
