I can see your point. I've got A tubes as well. Different styles -or at least subjects.

I'm on the other side of the issue. I put an extension tube on the 6x7ii and was confused for a bit because of the auto tubes I used in 35mm. All the metering must be done stopped down and exposures made the same way. It means I'll be using a tripod for anything I do 6x7 macro. Butterflies are problematic! Regards, Bob S.

So far, with macro, I agree with you. As a matter of fact, I prefer the older Pentax tubes without diaphragm coupling. You don't have to keep mashing the DOF preview knob, and they give DOF preview to cameras that don't have the knob. Mind, I rarely take moving critter shots in macro.
Sometimes less is more.
