Digital is not a fad, but the conjunction of photography and the computer craze.
You can think of it as a fad because the sale of $300-$600 digital point-n-shoot cameras has revived the profit margins of some of the major camera manufactures. Eventually every Mom & Dad or 20 something year old who is computer literate will own a digital camera. (It makes perfect sense.) And when everyone who owns a computer also owns a digital camera, the fad will slow down. Then, the market will be for serious digital cameras like you all have been talking about. The pace of new camera sales will also be much slower...much like 35mm camera sales have been for the past 15 years. Regards, Bob S.
