> You're 100% right. Whenever I hear Pentax are going to > release a "pro" 35mm or digital model, my brain > automatically assumes that it will be yet another product > aimed directly at the "prosumer" market that pro shooters > only dip into to purchase back-up equipment.
Pro camera means built to certain standard with regards to durability. Not whos actually buying them. This is from the manufacturers point of view. We can can of course define it whichever way we want but then we are discussing nomenclature. Pentax have had plenty of pro cameras. LX, three 645's and two 67's. The Nikon F5 is a pro camera. It would have been pro even if not a single pros were using them. A pro DSLR from Pentax makes more sense than ever simply because Pentax have had the Pro fine art market cornered for years. Up to 40% market share in some markets. Nikon and Canon have had the PJ market which has never been about image quality. Anyway, the phrase "pro" was utered by Pentax president. Pentax have not a habit of misusing this term as certain other companies whos pro bodies sometimes have wobbly tripod sockets and lens mounts. Pl
