This may have been asked before: 

I noticed that while both the *ist & *ist-D use the
same AF system, it seems that the 11 AF points cover a
much larger area in the *ist-D finder/screen. In the
film *ist, the area coverage by the 11 points looks
much smaller.

Is this due to the fact that the *ist-D has a smaller
sensor (APS size), hence a smaller focusing screen? It
seems then that this 11 point AF system was designed
for the *ist-D & the APS sensor.

Maybe I'm WAY off-base here or wrong entirely. Just an
observation.

Clarification would be good. Thx
