>How about Customs? Or is that non-applicable?

'Excuse me sir, is this your photographic equipment?'

- 'Yes hofficer'

'Did you buy it in this country?'

- 'Yes hofficer' (well, it was a former colony so that's close enough)

Used photo gear rarely attracts attention unless it looks expensive. A
300mm 2.8 in a flight case looks and is expensive. An A*85mm 1.4 doesn't
but is. I'll take a few Sears decals just in case...

I've travelled out and back (USA amongst other destinations) with 30K
worth of film gear (carnet) and they're not interested. Drugs, drugs,
drugs - if you look like you're carrying, they'll pull you and search. If
you look like a photo geek (I do) they're not interested.

I pay my taxes (oh boy do I!) and am a patriotic bloke but coughing up
tax on stuff that already has had tax paid on it already is too painful
to think about...

My next project (not even completed the previous one yet!) involves just
such a lens. I've been eyeing up K mounts and EOS mounts. It is
physically possible with no loss of infinity focus. Everest ---> climb :-)

Cheers,
  Cotty
