Hi everybody,

This afternoon, while heading home, I've been attracted by a "bargain"
Spotmatic SP offered at a very nice price. The camera had some corrosion on
the top and around the mount. It worked fine, though (I couldn't test the
meter - dead battery) and had its original case (in very good shape) and a
Super Takumar 50/1.4. The seller asked me 48 US$ for it. The last two
Spotmatics (F?) I saw around here went for something like 180 US$ (one LINB,
the other had a kind of sticky mirror problem) so I bought the SP on the
spot.
Back home I started to clean the camera and - surprise! - the corrosion was
superficial only. Only between the pentaprism and the speed knob the surface
still looks mat and shows some wear.
Now the SP looks good and I think it has been barely used for a very long time
(it shows no brassing, scratches or dents of any kind). The lens is the
cleanest I've ever seen (now I understand why so many people still loves the
old screwmount Pentax lenses) :)
Now the question: how does the Super-Takumar 50/1.4 compares to the K, KM and
F/FA versions? It's the second version (seven elements in six groups).
Thanks in advance.

Gianfranco

PS. Er, Albano? Please add an SP.
