Hi Paul,
My 20f2.8 lenses don't cause a problem with VF brightness for me, for that
matter neither does the 15f3.5, I use all of them in pretty poor light regularly.
>From a practical perspective if you are having problems with lenses of f2.8 or
slower I would suggest that you try some different focus screens (I don't
recall what bodies that you are using).
