You might want to consider the old FA Power Zoom 28-105/f4-5.6. It's
heavy (with relatively useless power zoom that you can turn off), but is
also a sharp lens in its class and quite highly regarded. It was
designed for the 1p. This is the standard lens on my 1p. I don't know if
it's still being produced, but a few calls should tell you it any are
available new. If not, try KEH.
I'll be looking closely at reviews to see how the new FA 28-105 and FA
24-90 compare to this old workhorse.
Another fairly good choice (sharper than most consumer 28-105s) is the
Tokina 28-105/f3.5-4.5. It's a solid piece of glass and metal, but is
out of production. Might still be available. Lacks macro capability.
