I suspect Pentax rightfully feels that the market for a digital SLR isn't
going to want to make low resolution video with it. It is targeted to a
different market.
This is in addition to the rather extreme technical difficulties of making
an SLR usable for continuous video recording.

I have an Isuzu Trooper. A friend of mine has a Mercedes Benz 450SL. His car
cost at least 3 times what my car cost.
My car will go through things that will drown his car.
I guess that makes the Benz pretty crappy. I would expect it to be able to
drive through at least a meter deep stream for 80 grand. My car will do it,
and it only cost 30 thousand.

If you want to shoot video, buy a video camera.
