Janosch Heinz, Sunset 1
Nice clouds, but Im sorry, its straight forward and nothing very special. I think a cropping from the top and from below to remove most of the dark part would help a lot...
Martin Mielke, Tubing
Another sunset, but a lot better. I like the lines but Im not completely satisfied with the way they fill the frame. Ideally I think it would have been better if the photographer had taken it more from above, so that the lines where stretched in the vertical direction, but that was probably not possible...
Bernd Scheffler, Jogging
Yet another sunset, but I like this one a lot. Nice colours and I like the position of the jogger in the picture. He is on his way out of the picture, just passing by thinking of something else. I also like the unsharp "things" adding depth to the picture.
Thomas Moraitis, Sunset with Drying octopusses
Sunsets are popular.... It is not a bad one, but in this case I miss something in the other end of the line. The composition is too heavily concentrated on the left. Also, I would have preferred to have the horizon clear below the octopuses. One radical suggestion: crop until only the line the sun, perhaps the horizon and a few octopuses remain.
Steven Desjardins, Balloon Ride
Nicely caught, but a bit gray ("muddy") in stead of black in the darker parts. great that you can see details in the pilot.
John Coyle, Gums
Quiet, good light, but with a bit too many trees and bushes, especially in the middle. I little bit out of focus?
Grant Reed III, Cumberland Falls at night
Not sharp, but youve explained why. Otherwise a bit too much leaves and "something" in the foreground. Go back with a tripod and a longer lens.
Harald Rust, Receding tide
Great nature shot, however I have a (very) small problem with the composition, as it does not balance completely. Just a bit to heavy on the left.
Facit, Rythm
Nice feeling, maybe even better without the beach, but I like the quiet movement of the photo.
Jim Moniz, Troublesome Creek, June 29, 2003
Im not a fan of "milky waters" like this, but its OK. I think I would have removed some of the bushes in the foreground.
David J Brooks, Blackwater River
Almost looks like a cold winter with frost from the morning fog still on the trees, nice IR effect. I miss something in the composition, some point of interest in the picture, and I have a problem with the dark tree on the right.
Andrew Wong, Musee du Louvre
The building is great, but this image fails to remind me of it. Sorry, I think you should spend some more time and work on composing the image. Either concentrate on a specific detail or try to capture the size and surroundings.
Joseph Tainter, Notre Dame From Upstream
I like the light in the lower part of the building, but dont like the way the towers are cut. Id prefer either more or less.
Daniel Bachmann, Window on Lisboa
I like pictures like this, it shows the contrast in the architecture. In this case Id prefer a more modernistic landmark in the view, but I guess that was not possible.
Jeffrey, Fireworks-3
Nice and clean and technically well done, but I think it is a bit empty in the upper right part of the image.
Francis M. Alviar, Fountains at Bellagio
Nice, but I dislike the lamp. Maybe you should get closer to the people.
Dan Matyola, Cactus Flower
OK, not a strong composition, but nice colours and technically good. Another colour of the background in the lower corners could add something extra.
Prasanta Chakraborty, At my Back Garden
Not as focussed the the previous, and with too many elements. Try too get closer to get som more geometry in the image. Also, get more, or maybe better less, DOF. Large, partially unsharp areas in the image are confusing.
Gerhard Wanninger, Lotus
A bit uncertain about the dominant wavy line in the bakground, maybe it should be clear of the flower, but a nice flower picture.
Ollen Mullis, Little bee Great bee picture (maybe a bit too much sharpening?)
Dick Jones, Tulip Beautiful, nothing more to say.
Mark Cassino, Whistful Dragon
Technically very good, even the small part of the flower at the left (though not my favorite theme)
Bob Sullivan, Swallowtail
I dont know what to make of the the image at the upper right, but the rest is OK. I like the unsharp framing of the butterfly.
Bill Owens, Sleepyhead Hehe, wake up! Like it for its humor.
Butch Black, Sea Gull ... Take Picture Nice bird, I like the red clouds in the background
Max McRae, Bellbird
I little bit too much flash, besides that an OK bird with a questioning look
Steve Larson, Cat TV
Funny, not so good technically with burnt out areas and a little too warm yellow. I bit more detail in the screen might have added some serious parts to the story.
Bill Sawyer, Doe Eyes I agree with you, nice look.
Amita Guha, Osprey
I dont see much of the bird, but somehow I like the light and dark areas of the picture. Maybe a bit too white in parts.
Gianfranco Irlanda, Spaghetti Cat I hate that straw above the cat, but nice shot.
Fred Widall, Lynda
I dont like the hard flash, it ruins the light. Sorry. Work with softer, natural light.
Paul C. Perkins, Mash
Too yellow, and I have a problem with pictures from theatrical scenes. It is created by the actors and the director.
Albano Garcia, Manuel I like it. Dramatic colours, pose, composition and lighting.
Jonathan A. Donald, In Though Nice expression, but I would have darkened it a bit on the right.
Boris Liberman, Look Daddy
Having three kids from 4 years and down I have to like images like this. Untidy enough to be spontaneous, a happy picture.
Dag Thrane, Stone Hey, thats me, OK, revenge is yours :-)
Ric Douglas, The Dance Cozy picture, a bit burnt out in parts but OK.
Frank Theriault, The Demonstration
Determined, but not too angry. OK PJ shot from a demostration. The white jacket against all the dark ones helps a lot to the composition.
Peter Davies, Faces
Great expressions, I wonder what they are watching. Im not sure about the DOF, maybe it should have been less, concentrating more on one face (the closest?) while letting the others be visible but more out of focus.
Derby Chang, Bacardi Night Life
I have to confess that I like this type of pictures, just look at the PUG. This one is great. Sensual "Model" and urban background.
M. Gil Menz, The Clown
Maybe its getting late, but I like the cross as a sign of death, but on my screen the contrast in this image is a little too high.
Grant, Doll 2003 Brisbane Australia
I feels a little to easy just to take a picture of a doll like this. The dolls expression is nice, but was made by someone else. Try using the dolls in a more complicated picture. They usually stand still ;-) Lighting is OK, though, and works as a good training example for real portraitslater.
Peter J. Alling, Abstract Yellow
To me this is not abstract enough. Get closer, use the forms and lines more, and get rid of that background. Or maybe use the background more. With another background the rest of the compositin would be fine (but maybe without cutting the head light.
Karoly Kovacs, The flowers of evil #1
Nice structure and colours, but maybe (just maybe) something more down on the right, its a bit empty down there.
Arthur Hsu, No title Elegant, very nice, but Im not completely satisfied with the vase.
Valery Zasedatel, Sunny day in Paris
Romantic, theres something here that I like, even if I usually would say it was too soft. Its just on the edge.
Youri Shostak, Black Shoes
Theres some idea here, but I dont get it. Maybe the flower, leaves or whatever, is too unclear. If it is a dead rose the picture could tell a story.
Christian Skofteland, Three in the fog
Great grey photo, sometimes putting the subject in the middle is just right.
Bruce Dayton, October Wheres Linus? It is a bit too constructed, but definitely October.
E.R.N. Reed, Moonbow at Cumberland falls, Kentucky
Once in PSE I wish you had done something to the saturation and contrast as well. Apart from that, OK, maybe a too large dark area on the left.
G. Sridar, Terrace
Great idea, I like the lines and the repetitions in the windows, as well as the picture in the middle. This is a natural triptych.
Ann Sanfedele, Yellow chairs
Yellow? Nice colours ;-) The fuzzy circle at the right bothers me, besides that I like these skinny chairs.
Gerald Lewis, Wrought Iron
I think you either should have concentrated on the two beams, or let the circular roof take a more important part. This is a in between different pictures, not deciding on any of the possibly interesting details.
Hamiche Samir, Barrage Nautique
Out of focus? The upper part of the picture has too many elements growing into one another. In a sharp image I think I would have cropped down to to just above the waterline in the fence.
Robert Poe, Dock Spot Elegant and cool, but maybe I miss the little extra to be truly great.
BigButt, Window Air conditioned zebra? Funny picture.
.......
OK, thats it, forgive any rotten English, its been a long evening.
Good Night :-)
