I looked at the photo for several seconds before noticing the child. If he
is the subject, I'd suggest making him more prominent by placing him so he
stand out against the horizon (i.e. not in front of the tree), lighten him
up a bit, and make the patterns of light the secondary focal point of the
image by toning them down - making them smaller and less bright (if
possible). On the flip side,if the light itself is the subject (I see two
ways of reading the photo) the light needs to be made more interesting -
perhaps more tree branches silhouetted in it. Then leave the child
relatively dark, but still move him out so he stands out.

Some of the people who saw it really liked it, but I don't quite like it.
I think that there is too much light "leaked" through the trees.
I would appreciate it you looked at it and told me what you think. But
please be honest and if need be brutal. I do want to know how to improve it.
