Thanks to all who sent me information and ideas either on- or off-list. I had already downloaded the ME Super service manual. There is also some interesting information at http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/pentaxmeramblings.html. However it is always good to get ideas from people who have obviously dealt with a problem.
