What's the general opinion of this lens? Compared to the FA* 200mm f/2.8, F 100mm macro f/2.8 and the F 70-210mm f/4-5.6? What about the weight? And also if I can ask what you paid for yours used (of list if you want)? I'm trying to determine what a reasonable price is. Any info about this lens is appreciated.
I have used Nikkor AF 80-200/2.8 (the 3rd generation), and own the FA100/2.8 & FA*200/2.8. If the Pentax FA*80-200/2.8 was "similar" to the Nikkor, there would be a significant sharpness difference at the long end wide open (FA*200/2.8 is much better in this case). Without the hood, the Pentax zoom is about twice the weight of the prime (1.65k vs 785g). But the zoom could be a good choice if you plan to replace the 100/2.8 macro & 200/2.8 with it (assuming you won't do any macro in the field).
