Marl is right. In fact the amount of shapening needed depends on the use and final size of the image. So how can one setting fit all.

I just got my new istD. First impression....it's SMALL! Very nice

design, and I love the hyper programs like the PZ1p.

Question: So far, I like to set the sharpening setting at it's highest.

Do others feel the default setting is too soft?

I haven't received mine yet, but several of the reviews I've read say that
the default setting is somewhat soft.

The reviews I've seen also indicate that the default sharpening is
minimal-to-none. That's the Way It Should Be as far as I'm concerned.
You can always add sharpening later. Trust the user to decide how much
(and what type) is appropriate.
