One of the very best functions of digital cameras. Don't be lulled into 
thinking that CC filters aren't still useful though.

Don't even bother with visual confirmation, get yourself a good white or 
accurate neutral grey card (for use in sunlight) and balance off that, trust 
the force. 

I have white cards for work under hot lights that I use with my digicam and I 
can be virtually assured of colour consistency even between light sources if I 
balance off the same reference.
