This isn't about political correctness. It's about marketing.
Pentax and their ad agency can say anything they want to in their ads. Whether you or I might be offended doesn't mean much in the overall scheme of things. But pissing off huge segments of the population (women, sensitive new age guys, politically correct pinko weenies, the religious right, parents, whoever...) just doesn't make good marketing sense.
What the hell were these guys thinking? And, they get paid for this stuff?

I think the ad was intended to be humorous and to grab attention. It certainly does the latter.
I'm not sure how effective it is, but I don't see it as offensive. Do we always have to be politically correct?
