i noticed with my *istD images something really annoying that i had
forgotten to check on images that others have uploaded. the JPEG files have
an internal resolution of 72dpi. i was so happy that Nikon changed to 300dpi
embedded resolution. that means i have to remember to change all the images
i get out of the camera to 300dpi.

the bundled FAJ 18-35 might be a bottom feeder lens, but it is good enough
for the *istD to produce decent results. i compared two of the images i
took, one at at ISO 200 and one at ISO 800, and i can see leaving it in ISO
800 for a lot of situations.
