Hmmm... are you thinking of K meaning Kleinbildformat, the German word for 35mm format? That's very interesting to me, since those were the years when Asahi was teaming with Zeiss. Somebody speculated that the K-bayonet was developed together with Zeiss, hence K-bayonet (K-bajonett in German) could be the original Zeiss designation for it.
