He related this story to us some years ago. One time they had some new equipment being installed, and they had a technician up from South California to do the installation. This was during a particularly cold January, when the overnight temperatures were close to -40. Her second day, she didn't show up at the hospital intil quite late in the morning. When queried, she said that her rental car wouldn't start. One of the locals asked if she had plugged the car in. She said she had noticed people plugging in their vehicles, but had thought it was just a holdover from when they tied their horses prior to retiring for the night.
