I did even better than that. Picked up a refurbished APC Smart-UPS 700 (black)
from the APC auction site for $129 a few months back. The Smart UPS series is a
network grade UPS - you are running off the batteries via an inverter (a true
sine wave output) so there is no microsecond lag when switching over to battery.
Even while marked refurbished, the unit I got didn't have the slightest mark on
it. Came complete with cables, manuals and software too. But I do see them
going for $199 now ($219 for the black units which conveniently matches my home
entertainment gear & black body MX). Wished I had picked up all 17 units at
$129 and resold them...
