Yes Wendy the lag time is one thing I did notice. Because I was shooting action most of the time, it certainly was an annoyance. The digital viewfinder was very weird. I'd line up the shot, take the picture, there was a lag time, then the picture was taken, the screen held the picture and by the time I looked up, the skaters were halfway down the ice. It certainly was difficult to get used to it. But by the end I think I was getting the hang of it. I really have not seen the results yet. I looked at them on the screen and they looked quite good. My buddy is burning a CD for me and I will be able to get a better look. Two comments: 1)I would not want to use one for serious or important action shooting where I had to get the pictures. But for playing around, they are a heck of a lot of fun. 2) If that experience was as good as it was, I can't imagine the fun factor of the istD or any other Digital SLR for that matter. The experience just moved up my purchase date of the istD by one giant step. Vic
I briefly owned a Nikon Coolpix 5700 this summer. I was trying to hold out for the arrival of the *istD and hoped that this would be a useful stopgap for me to use until Pentax had their digital on the shelves. Not so. I returned the camera to the shop two days after I bought it. Even with pre-focussing, the lag on the shutter was totally unacceptable to me wendy beard ottawa, canada http://www.beard-redfern.com
