Hi Marnie: I have no intentions of using it for serious photography. I will use 35 mm
for that. I hope to use it for snapshooting, as a polaroid to check metering for
difficult subjects (home miniature studio), and to take the place of a point and
shoot camera that has never given great results anyway. The low megapixels will stop
me from taking the camera too seriously. I fear that if I got a really good point and
shoot my 35 mm gear would not get used enough... (weird thinking I know.) My other
deciding factor is that my teenage daughter will be using it meaning it stands a
pretty good chance of being left out and stolen. I would hate to have a $600 or $700
camera stolen. Plus, it's rare that I would ever go bigger than 8X10 with a snapshot
camera. I saw an 8X10 from a 2 megapixel camera and for the one per cent chance that I
would ever blow up a snapshot to that size, it was totally acceptable to me. Thanks
for your comments Vic

I got the A60 several months back (three or four or more). It was on sale, because I
think Canon will discontinue it (if they already haven't). Low megapixels. Everything
else is higher now.
It's a nice little camera, though, and I think you will enjoy it. I just don't plan to
use mine for "serious" photography. I'd want more megapixels for that.
Doe aka Marnie Have fun! It does give one a taste of what a DSLR would be like --
that is the downside -- more temptation.
