Peter Smith asked:
"is there a UK member who has had a better experience with household
insurance"
Well, I had an Olympus mju1 stolen in Stockport town centre some time ago.
Also a very nice Olympus Trip 35 was stolen from my car while it was parked
in Oldham town centre. I am lucky enough never to have had Pentax gear
stolen. I claimed on household insurance for both of these and the full cost
(less excess) was recovered. At the time I was insured with Halifax (through
mortgage).
I hope this helps, but when taking household insurance I have always made a
point to check the clauses related to things like cameras and pedal cycles
when taken away from home.

James Brooks
