I still have a dial-up connection and won't be changing soon.  AFAIK many
other list-members also still dial-up.  How about downsizing an image before
web-publishing it.  If you need to show something at full-rez, you could
always just put up a crop of the relevant part of the image.

One piece of advice I remember from an early visit to "webpagesthatsuck" is
that no page should take longer to load than you can hold your breath.  I
died of suffocation many times over waiting for Arnie's *istD image to load.
Lucky for me it's a season of miracles :)
