Hm. I've found (OK, my father found them) all sorts of strange parts for my Chevy Lumina APV at both junk yards, and new from the dealer, including replacement parts for ash trays and cup holders, screws and bolts for window hinges and other parts... Maybe you just live in a bad part of the country, or have bad dealers... As far as Pentax cameras are concerned, Pentax clearly remarks which cameras they no longer support on their web site, and even state the reasons--over 10 years old, and parts no longer available for them. My Apple Newton is still officially supported by Apple, but rumor has it that 7 years is the limit for official support. That's coming up in just another year...
