Don't forget leasing, Tanya, you can then afford a better model. I'd be very careful with second-hand laptops, you never know what abuse they've suffered. Modern laptops do come with built in CDR/CDRW drives anyway (and possibly DVD - haven't checked recently), and XP includes OS level burning software. I would avoid trying to install any new hardware in a laptop, it's pretty crowded in there!
