Looks like it was my brain contributing to the
problem....
I didnt realise how crucial the holder was...

(which is silly of me, because I had used the
technique of not
pressing something right up against the glass when
I was scanning real objects.
ugh.)

However the first neg I was scanning that had a
problem, had been in
the holder, now that I think of it...  boy, I sure
feel stupid.

Thanks much for this..  better than the manual
(which I can't find anyway:) )
