I don't know about the quality of the Sigma. I have the A* 300 f4 and it seems to be a sharp lens, though I have not used it much. One things about the older Pentax is that the minimum focusing distance is pretty limited at a little less than 4 meters. I frequently find myself closer than this at this focal length.

With my Tokina 400 heading into the shop, I did some experiments with the A* 300 f4 and a Sigma 1.4x teleconverter. Subjectively, it looks to be a good combination and I might test drive it this afternoon.

Hi,

anybody know what the quality of the new sigma 300 or 400 tele apo macros

compared to the Pentax 300 f4 and 400 f5.6 lenses.

Will a Pentax 1.4S teleconverter work on the sigma lenses?

Anybody how can help me choose a versatile telelens, I'm not sure if 300 or
400mm is the
better choice.
