By the way, "or best offer" does not mean "to the highest bidder", it means it means, I would like to get X for it, but will sell it to the one who offers the closest to that. It is the opposite of "firm".

I have a solid $100 bid on it from someone across the big pond... Reminder that it has 49mm threads. Anyone in for more?
I'm sure that we (almost) all agree that it's OK to mention items that we personally are selling here (and many of us have done so), but I'm not sure if running an ongoing auction here might be just a bit much...
Fred - I'd rather see it go to someone here -- I'm
hoping for more than
$100 cause I'm really poor. I really don't think
of it as a real auction -
just a note that if someone wan'ts it and is
dragging his heels and
has more than that I'd love it, and I'm not going
to do another note
to the whole list on this.. I wanted to announce
it to be fair and open to
the guy who has offered me $100, too.
Many others have mentioned things for sale with
the line blah blah or best offer....
Someone told me he thought I should get more than $100 for it, it is just the least I'd take.
But even if you are being a crumudgeon, thanks for the added info, below. I used mine with a 100 f 4 macro and a 50mm f 4 macro, both of which have 49mm threads (they are about 20 years old)

As for the AF080C, it'd be a good unit for someone, to be sure. I've used both one of them and an AF140C, and I've never found most of the "improvements" in the newer unit to be very important (to me - YMMV).
The only difference that mattered to me was, in fact, those 49mm threads - one of the adapters that comes with the 140 has allowed me to use it with both the A 100/2.8 Macro and the A* 200/4 Macro (both 58mm threads), but I guess I probably could have gotten by with a 49mm to 58mm "filter step-up ring" instead.
Furthermore, one thing that I liked with the 080 was that it can be used with the AC Adapter II for AC power (just like with the AF400T) - the 140 runs on batteries only.
