Well I have some problems with it too. Focus seems to be on the cheek well forward of the eyes. It is a square picture, is it heavily cropped or did he lie about the format? However, I have no problem with the focal length, most 35mm shooters use is too long a lens for portraits anyway. I will admitt it is about as short as I would go though.
