the Leaf back's points are all at the same position, so there are only 6 million points. a camera using the Bayer pattern has an antialiasing filter, commonly known as blurring, followed by interpolation. the filter causes most of the resolution loss. interpolation has no resolution loss. its job is to add resolution.
