Yes. If you compare technical image quality, the digital cameras really are too expensive. The problem is, that we can suspect the camera makers eventually will stop developing analog cameras. I mean, the *ist already has better features (AF, AE etc.) than the MZ-S, but I guess the analog *ist is kind of similar to the *ist D (11 focus points, 16 segment measuring)? THew *ist selling at a fraction og the *ist D (700$ i Denmark - *ist D selling for appr. 2000 $ in Denmark and appr. 1900$ in Germany).
Soon 8-10MP will become the professional standard, Sharp made a 6MP mini CCD for P&S cameras. Sony allready made a 8MP semiprofessional SLR - selling for appr. 1000$. And yes, resolution matters. But other features do as well.
