Anders, I have a small digital P&S too. Like you I carry it with me most of the time. But since my motifs are nature and landscapes, shooting "interesting stuff I see in the streets" is a tough exercise in _seeing_. :-)
"Interesting stuff I see in the streets" just happens to be what I've shot the most so far, since that's what's going on around me, living in a city as I do. But I've also shot a lot of general party pictures of friends and strangers in pubs and the like. Occasionally nature and landscapes, too, but I haven't been out much in the landscapes since I bought it. And, as you know, this season is quite dull and dark up here at 59 North. Not much light to photograph in. Probably will be a bit more of landscapes the upcoming summer.
When it comes to people photography, I can only subscribe to Cotty's wisdom; "if you see a motif, it's gone". Very, very true for me, and something even the OptioS cannot mend.
Yes, that's often the case... My uncle though, he has a camera with some kind of memory function. It can record continously, saving a buffer of images some seconds long, and when you just missed a shot you can step back through the buffer and pull it out from there. You still have to see the motif through the viewfinder and have the camera switched on, but for some occasions it might save you the missed shot. Don't know about resolution and stuff, though. Probably quite poor.
