The American television program 60 Minutes (which does longish features)
had a story tonight about counterfeiting in China. Apparently Kodak Max
is one of the counterfeited products. So I guess that means that there
is a coating plant in China. I suggested here some time back that, as
profits on film decline, Kodak would shift production to Eastern Europe,
then to India, then to China. Fuji may go directly to China. This source
of production will surely be around for a while.
The second item on the show was about NFL (National Football [American
Football] League) films. For quality they are shot on film -- lots of it.
Sounds to me like film is not going away. Processing may become less
available, though.
