Me being imprecise again....

You need only a "dead" (no connections) connector that will mount on the
HSG and allow you to mount the flash on it.  The HSG and flash will then
be insulated from each other.  The connection from the flash to the
camera will be by the 5P cable.  Thus you will get all the tricks of the
digital flash, off camera.

Does your HSG have the stainless/plastic part that attaches to the
bracket you attach to the camera?  I have a spare camera bracket you
could borrow.  These parts are ridiculously expensive new.  They never
break but to find them secondhand is very much a trial of luck - they
are almost never listed properly in Jessop's secondhand catalogue, for
instance.  They do, however appear in bargain basement bins -  I got a
4P cable on Thursday for �1.  Wouldn't expect to pay any more for the
bracketry.
